STRESS AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE

The one thing that we do have control over these days is our health and taking steps to prevent problems due to stress.

Stress unchecked can wreak havoc on our nervous system. One of the ways to combat stress is to make choices that reduce stress. Choices like exercising and getting plenty of rest. Another very important way to avoid illness due to stress is regular chiropractic adjustments.

When our systems become overloaded with stress, the sheaths that protect our nerves constrict causing vertebral subluxations that result in restricting normal signals from the brain to the various systems of our body. Chiropractic adjustments reduce the pressure on the nerves and return a normal flow of energy through the nervous system. Taking the time to see your chiropractor and getting adjusted reduces the effects of stress. There is nothing too important to allow it to affect your health. Take the time to have your spine checked and, if needed, adjusted. Chiropractic adjustments help to keep stress levels in check. Stress confuses your nervous system and unchecked becomes a downward health spiral. Chiropractic adjustments and good health advice from your chiropractor are a good prescription to fight stress.

The Benefits of Ongoing Chiropractic Care

Immediately after birth we experience small traumas to our spine. From learning to walk and through the teen years we experience many slight injuries that accumulate over time. Early detection and correction of spinal misalignments caused by everyday traumas can help prevent many unnecessary injuries and/or irreversible damage to the young spine. As we become adults and are faced with lifestyle changes, regular chiropractic evaluations can also help prevent injuries and help maintain a healthy spine. Stepping off a curb the wrong way, getting in and out of a car, travelling -- all these things and more affect your spine and can cause subluxations that left uncorrected can result in greater damage and deteriorating health.

Healthcare Coach For Life

Your chiropractor can provide you and your family with expert advice from a natural viewpoint on most healthcare issues. The option to get advice from another source on issues of health is an invaluable asset to your family. Nutrition, backpack safety, healthy weight loss and tips for safely beginning an exercise regimen are all part of your chiropractor's training. Many of us hear of new ways to "cure" illness and new over the counter drugs that offer relief for many conditions. Seek your chiropractor's opinion on these issues so that his or her perspective is available to help you with decisions that could affect your health. The time to take advantage of your chiropractor's knowledge on health related issues is as soon as they present themselves to you, keeping in mind at all times that a healthy spine is the gateway to good health.

Your Body Chemistry

Your body generates hundreds of chemicals to keep your body functioning properly. Chemicals raise and lower your blood pressure and your body temperature. Chemicals help digest your food, eliminate waste and control your moods. Your body produces insulin and adrenaline and antibiotics to fight infections. Your immune system is a careful balance of chemicals that prevent illness and ward off disease. Your body has its own chemistry lab which receives instructions about how much of any chemical is needed at any given time to keep you in good health. Removing nerve interference in the spine can help restore your natural chemical balance. Getting adjusted regularly helps maintain a healthy system of chemical delivery where and when it is needed.

Better Safe Than Sorry

When it comes to good health and good health care choices, it helps to remember what the Hippocratic oath says: "First, do no harm".

The "chiropractic first" approach to treating disease is to provide your body with the best possible opportunity to correct itself. The need for drugs or surgery can often be avoided by first allowing your body to function as it should without nerve interference. A chiropractic adjustment can stimulate your immune system and restore nerve function to organs that have been affected by restricted nerve flow from the brain. Many children respond very positively to regular chiropractic care -- often when parents were at their wits end with trial and error drug therapies.

That's the whole point of wellness and preventative health maintenance through chiropractic care, first do no harm, allow the body to regulate itself with help from your healthcare choices and your chiropractor.

CHIROPRACTIC FACT OF THE MONTH

When vertebrae are misaligned, the flow of messages from the brain to all the other cells in the body becomes distorted. This type of interference creates disorganization of the body's function and causes disease. This misalignment of the vertebrae can often exist undetected and slowly undermines one's health. Your chiropractor is the only healthcare professional trained to locate and correct these vertebral misalignments.
